Reinforced concrete structure in the middle of the woods, surrounded by rocks trees and caves. This residential building was never constructed by
Artechnic Architects to blend with nature, but to resist it. The house is situated in Karuizawa, Nagano 1 hour train ride from Tokyo Japan. Low temperatures and a high degree of humidity, helped by the fact that the houses in the area are used intermittently as holiday homes, all contribute to the homes starting to rot. In order to avoid this problem and cut the amount of maintenance, Artechnic decided to go for this structure. The running of the House is made easier by the fact that the central control system enables all mechanical and electrical equipments to be managed by three buttons.
