Graphite and ink drawings of animals.

Czech freelance graphic designer and illustrator Lucie Kostkova drew all of the images you see on this page.

This post can be separated in two different sections. The first would contain single drawings of animals. That is except for the swan and the cygnets (drawing four), plus the two owls (drawing eleven.) The other one would comprise the three sets of drawing studies. One of each of the following animals: The tiger, the elephant and the horse.

Favourites. I find that birds lend themselves well to being sketched by artists. That is why I chose the magpie with the ring... I am not going to jump to conclusions and say it was stolen. It might be part of a new delivery system, or it's returning a lost item? : )

For my second choice, I will go with the octopus. Very intelligent, famous for problem solving and sporting a nimble body. An aquatic animal we don't know too much about. Definitely not enough. it is reputed to have some alien features about itself…

My last pick would go with the cheetah. Not so much for the animal, as for the dynamic pose catching it in mid movement. The animal is taking a sharp turn using the tail as a counterbalance, whilst keeping its gaze fixed on its prey?
