Ink drawings and acrylic paints bring up a depth of feelings.

Artist Chiara Aime drew, painted and named all of the pieces you see on this page.

I was fascinated by both the art and the tiles given to them. Deep and what look like very personal subjects. Ones used by the artist to express her thoughts and even a little of her life?

I find that when you feel a personal involvement from the artist in their pieces... It's like a bonus round. The work is automatically elevated as a consequence.

The first piece is, to me, a perfect opening. A balancing act of the protagonist of the painting. A person carefully navigating space/life with a precarious balance. One that is not assured to last the length of the rope/lifetime.

The second image down serves as a contrast to the first. This kind of relaxed, effortless view of space/life from a position of silent power. Taking in things without having to worry about balance, falling and all of the other concerns experienced by the person on the tightrope. Here you are able to take calm and leisurely, measured decisions of what you are going to do. All of this whilst observing in all that is going on.

I like the smokey quality in most of these pieces. It makes them look ethereal. Not quite tethered in space and time. A state that transcends our reality. Something we can relate to, even though the images are so vastly different from our "Normal".

A lot of fantasy and a sprinkle of surrealism to paint a picture with acrylic and the words in the titles. How do you relate to them? Any of them?
