Mental Health - Depression a Journey Through the Jungle of Mind

A serious subject that the artist approaches, by putting his thoughts into illustrations.
Instead of retreating into himself and let depression take the better of him, Polish Graphic Designer and Artist Dawid Planeta, attacks it straight on, by bringing these thoughts and images out of his mind and giving the form in his drawings.  Planeta depicts himself as a traveller through a dark landscape, where the giant animals with the glowing eyes, are his insecurities and his fears.  If you pay attention to the images, in all but one, the animal, representing the fear, and the man, representing him, square off to each other, face to face.  He is not cowering or turning away from it.  As a final touch, Planeta uses quotes from other people, to reinforce the message that comes from his illustrations.  Depression is not the only Mental Health issue that afflicts our societies, slow progress is being achieved by the professionals and politicians in this field and empathy is beginning to replace mockery and alienation for the people afflicted.  More art inspired by Mental Illness HERE.
