Plush little Animals made of Wool

Russian Artist Tatiana Barakova (Татьяна Баракова) has a real talent for making these lovely plush animals, made of wool.  She really captures some lovely expressions in her little furry creations.  The process in not an easy one, it is really painstaking, requiring two weeks to complete each toy.  Her love of animals is obvious when you see these miniatures, can you see your favourite represented here?

Labyrinth Fan Art Dolls Statues and Jewelry

Self taught Artist / Sculptor Alyson Tabbitha and creator of IDEATIONOX, originally started with hand sculpted necklaces, but has now included fan art as well.  In today's post we are going to cover fan art Dolls Statues and Jewelry from the cult Labyrinth (1986).  The main actors were, David Bowie, as Jareth the Goblin King and Jennifer Connelly as Sarah.  The film was popular, not only for the story and the scenery, but also for the innovative and ground breaking use of animatronics, mainly in the character Hoggle.  No moulds are used for the Dolls that are made from mixed materials, such as clay, sown fabric, faux fur, painted trinkets & details.  Enjoy this short travel to the past. 

Maker of Mythical Creatures and Pet Dolls

Lisa Toms Doll Maker from Barcelona Spain, constructs these beautiful and very realistic faux fur animals.  Toms completed her Fine Arts Degree last summer and is hoping to make a living, creating dolls, original designs and commissions.  Some of her dolls are made to be floppy and other can assume poses thanks to a plastic ball and socket joint. Head and paws are casted in resin from an original sculpture, hand painted with acrylics and sealed. The body is hand sewn with quality faux fur.  These mythical creatures come with a warning from the maker, that makes clear that, although they are made with durable products, they are not suitable for young children.

Poker Cards Illustrated by 54 Top Artists

Illustrating every card in the pack was an idea of company Digital Abstracts.  It originally started as a crowd funding campaign on KickStarter (where they were asking for about $5,100 and were given about $34,000)  This project managed to get amazingly talented Designers and Illustrators from all around the world to contribute towards this venture.  We have created Gif Animations for easier viewing and we listed all the Artists and their links below the image.  The cards are still for sale on their site, meanwhile you can enjoy the Art.  Have you got a favourite? let us know in the comment section below the Article.

Odd Clay Sculptures with Charming Expressions

American Artist and Animator Deanna Molinaro aka (Chickenshoot) creates these odd looking but very cute clay toys.  As well as sculpting,  Molinaro writes books and paints.  She got the inspiration for these pieces whilst taking to a neighbour about a Sci-Fi movie.   Chickenshoot comes across as being very gentile and personable, with an incredibly vivid imagination that she puts to good use in her art.  Do you have a favourite?  Let us know in the comment section at the bottom of the article.  Once in the article you can enlarge the image by pressing it (not the first one).

Retro Vintage Recycled Robots

These lovely Robots are put together with recycled items, that when assembled have a real retro feel.  Brian Marshall constructs them from discarded materials of all different sizes.  When you recognise some of the components that are used for these Sculptures you will be able to give them scale.  We don't think that these sculptures will put an end to our wasteful habits straight away, but it is a way of showing that used recycled items have value and this starts counteracting decades of being told that we have to throw away the old and keep buying new.  Enjoy the lovely creations,  once in the article you can enlarge the image by pressing it (not the first one).

Recycled Toy Sculptures

Derek Scholte works with items that other people throw away or sell in flea markets.  He loves the aged look of metals which he incorporates into his art without disguising them,  leaving all the imperfections rust and blemishes.  We have included the materials used in every sculpture, as listed on Scholte's site.  Very clever move on his behalf, as it adds so much more to the finish product.  His inspiration comes from Steampunk and the film industry, Tim Burton, Jean Pierre Jeunet, Rat Rods, Mad Max.

Incredible ColarApp that lets you colour in images and then bring it to life in 3D using an iPhone or iPad.  The way you colour it and the colours you use are the ones that are going to be used in the final rendering.  Have a look at the videos they will really impress you kids and keep them busy for hours.

Wet Sand And Play-Doh

As the title suggests this is sand that has some of the characteristics of Play-Doh.  It is made from 98% sand and 2% polymer.  Brookstone sell this product that brings the beach to your home, with out all the problems associate with the sand you find on the beach.  It is soft and stretchy, it sticks to itself but not to your fingers. does not dry out and it is non toxic.  As well as the photographs we have included two videos to showcase the properties better, (the videos are really worth looking at).
