Lorraine Loots started her painting marathon in 2013, setting out to produce a mini painting for each day of the year.  It was a beautiful project that saw her admires and followers suggest paintings for dates that were special to them.  When 2014 arrived and her city was designated World Design Capital, she decided to extend the her project by a further year and an extra 365 miniature Art pieces.  Now in 2015 she is loving the process so much that she is just continuing.  Loots covers, in her paintings, a multitude of subjects, we have included a few below with a video, in which she explains how the project came about.

Self taught artist ReveMiniatures loves to make 1/12 scale (12 times smaller than the real thing) miniature animals.  The size is not the only amazing thing, it's that he manages to create realistic expressions on his small models.  Reve mostly lists as his or her materials: polymer clay, natural fibres (yarn) and hand painted details.  We have put together a collection of animals for you that includes Cats, Dogs, Birds and Wild Animals.

Guild of Miniature Artisans Artist and Sculptor Kerri Pajutee makes her sculptures look like the real thing, just a bit shrunken down.  This is how Pajutee describes her miniature sculptures "freehand polymer clay over delicate wire armature, dressed in permanent coats of applied natural fibers".  The main reason for her love of miniatures, is that you can create tiny worlds that contain special memories or recreations of personal encounters, that are always there to act as reminders.

Incredible miniature foods. They vary from savoury to sweet dishes and staged in a lot of different ways.  Stéphanie Kilgast has been very busy, it would be very difficult to put all the images that are on the site as there are so many.  The match gives you a sense of scale.  These are not just miniature creations they are very well coloured shaded and detailed.  Apart from a Dolls house let me know how you would us these miniatures.

This is the second time we feature Kim Clough aka (fairchildart) an Artist with an amazing eye for detail and Miniaturist by day, Medical Lab Scientist by night.  She tells us how she started in 2008, with a book from Sue Heaser, "Making Doll's House Miniatures with Polymer Clay", in which there are many easy to follow tutorials, covering many different types of miniatures.  Now she uses reference pictures, of real food from different angles, to create her tiny replicas.  She buys the cutlery and the dishes, with each clay sculpture taking between 1 and 3 hours to complete, depending on the complexity.

Frank Kunert is a Model Maker and a Photographer who does not use Photoshop to enhance his pictures.  Kunert is deliberate in his desire not to make his models and therefore his pictures, too polished and precise.  There is a lot hidden in these little snapshots, representing reality, sometimes humorous or satiric and sometimes the absurdity of the problems we live through in our daily lives.  You have to pay special attention, to see what hides in plain site  (look at the balconies...)

Amazingly small and detailed drawings by US Artist Kyle Leonard, who has a passion for the environment and the problems it is facing, at the hands of Humanity.  Leonard hopes to help raise the issue by stippling and cross hatching his way across many hundreds of thousands of these segments and dots to from these beautiful images.  The images are not that big, given the detail involved, so we have added as many larger scale details as possible and a GIF animation for the Octopus.  Leonard can spend between 6 to 100 hours per drawing, depending on the complexity.

Kendal Murray’s miniature sculptures create tiny worlds using every day objects like glass teapots, grass-covered purses, mirrored makeup compacts, shoes etc.  In this post we are covering a mixture of two of her exhibitions, Flights of Fancy and The Collector.  The compositions and the titles she gives them, resemble the soothing feel and look of the old nursery rimes, children's stories and the surreal imagery they came with.
