Yesterday we introduced one of his students Iman Maleki, today we have a look at the teacher.
Morteza Katouzian was born in Iran in 1943, in a middle-class family that had an appreciation for the arts.  He is a self-taught artist, that put in a lot of time to perfect his craft.  Now his students have students of their own, passing down the hard learnt lessons form their teacher. The majority of Katouzian's work is now sold in the form of posters, whilst some of his original paintings are hanging in the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts, the rest are held by collectors from all around the world. There is another interesting fact about this extraordinary man, in the 1970s he was the first man in Iran to attain a black belt in Karate, he has trained many students in this sport achieving Black Belt, Dan 7.
