Chris Elliman is the architect of these compositions, finding subjects and people to tell stories about and weaving meaning in the images that form the piece of art. It is a quality I love about art in general, but specifically about surreal art. The following is an image based thought of mine, regarding why art means different things to different people, which I am hoping I will be able to convey in writing, if it fails to come across, I am very sorry in advance. A painting is painted on a sheet of glass, on one side, stands the artist and his or her interpretation of the piece and on the other side, stands the viewer, with his or hers. The painting is visible to both at the same time, even though it is the same image, the two sides have a different view of it, where one is the mirror image of the other. In real life, that difference is dictated by your experiences, giving each one of us, our own personal feeling about a piece of art. The million little facets of your character, that have developed throughout your lifetime, are the qualities that make you, you... they are the very things, that are going to shape your perspective, when forming an opinion about anything, in this case a piece of art. That is why, I am really puzzled when people push others to like or dislike something, based on arbitrary rules. So celebrate your differences, as variety, in opinions, is what makes life interesting.
