Colorful portraits created using a ballpoint pen.
One glance at her work and it almost goes without saying that Kaia is a very talented artist and her portraits looks amazing. Very obvious, but still needs to be said.
There are two points that I would like to go into more detail.
- These drawings were created using ballpoint pens; if you have ever used one, you know how difficult it is to get such a clean uniform finish. If a mistake is made, it can't be erased as can be done with a pencil drawing, or paint over, as can be done with with a painting. Any mistakes are difficult to cover and there for the world to see.
- The second point concerns the colors; both, the ones that have a base color and the ones completely drawn with one pen. I am used to seeing monochromatic portraits in grey (pencil) or black (charcoal and ink). It really makes a big and pleasant difference, seeing them in any other colors.
I have included a couple of WIP next to the finish drawing, so that you can see how the colors are layered.
Now it's time to enjoy the art...
