Cardboard Single Panel Cartoon Art

An artist with a great imagination and help from nature.

Writer and Filmmaker John Marshall says that he spends a lot of time on the computer and uses these pieces as a way of taking a break from it. When he is finished with his day-job, Marshall gets a large piece of cardboard and cuts out a figure; he waits for sunset and then poses the silhouettes with these beautiful natural backdrops.
To see how it's done, click the link below with his previous work here on DesignStack.

The following are a few words from Marshall: "I call them Sunset Selfies. Each one comes with a caption that makes them more like single-panel cartoons".

As far as I can tell they are all created without the use of digital art. The only exception is probably Dobby; the House Elf from Harry Potter, may have had a digital helping hand.

The contrast between the dark silhouette and the mellow tones of the background, really give the scene a warm, dreamy and easygoing feeling, almost surreal; a freeze-frame, in a very real life animation movie.

Ps. I gave the images some titles.

I'd love to see the guy on the line in person! All of them are wonderful. Tried to go to the link but it would not connect! :( My favorites are the guy on the line and ET.

    1. The link didn't work for a very complex technical reason. (I forgot to attach the link 😃️).
Thank you very much for pointing it out, it will work now.
It's nice to see how the magic is achieved.
