Charcoal Portraits on Green

Charcoal portrait drawings in different states of expression.

Self Taught American Artist Bronwyn Dierssen provides a distinctive interpretation of this genre of drawing.

Some of her portraits look like WIPs, but others seem to be deliberately unfinished. Where unfinished is the wrong way to describe them, as they are finished the way they are.

I don't know if is the soft finish, but I love that ethereal quality these drawings emanate. Even the last two that are a little different both in colour and in format.

Looking at Dierssen's work, I realise that even a slight turn off of the path, can result in pleasant and effective differences overall. Have a look and see what you think.
