This is the work of Artist Wenqing Yan (Yuumei). Following, are thoughts of the artist regarding her work and background.
"The art and ramblings of a disillusioned idealist.
I'm a digital artist, graphic novelist, and UC Berkeley grad with a focus on environmentalism and cyber activism.
I've illustrated and authored numerous graphic novels and pushed a few books. I'm currently working on the Axent Wear cat ear headphones that I designed."
Below you can see a small selection of Yuumei's work. I like to think of these pieces as memories the artist has. All contained in different types of glass jars. Rows and rows of bookshelves, with shelves full of them, A chance to revisit any of them at will. From bad to good and everything in between. A chance to open one up and relieve it as the first time you ever did.
I see the illustrations on this page separated in two sections. The first: Looking at the memories from the outside with a thumbnail kind of image, to refresh your recollection of the moment. The second: Where the protagonist has already entered the memory and is reliving it...
Which glass jar moments would you choose to visit again in your life?
