Wild Animals Scratchboard Drawings

Scratchboard is a very interesting style and medium, through which you can express art.

Spanish Ricardo Martinez created all of the drawings on this post.

Scratchboard is defined by Wikipedia as "Sharp knives and tools that are used for etching into a thin layer of white China clay that is coated with black India ink."  For the coloured ones, more layers of clay in different colours are laid, so that the deeper the incision the more colours are available to the artist.

Black and white illustrations of wild animals with different attributes.  The most striking one is the realistic finish Martinez is able to achieve with these critters.  The fun he has with some of them.  I have included a couple, but his site contains more.  I will give you hints as to what to look for.  I will let you discover the funny details for yourselves.  The tiger's stripes and the group selfie right at the end.

If you look at the scratchboard link above, you will be able to see many more examples.  Some, even in colour.
