Gil Batle, who is now 53, spent 20 years in an out 5 different Californian prisons, for fraud and forgery, where he learnt to Draw and to Tattoo. These two skills really helped his stay away from the worst of the abuses that happened daily around him, it afforded him a protection that many of the people in there, would only receive if they fought for it. Having moved to the Philippines, his parents country of origin, he now creates carvings on the fragile ostrich eggs. He depict the stories of the people he came to know, in an almost parallel universe, where most of us, have no concept of what goes on, on a day to day basis.
