Drawings that make us pause and think about what the artist is trying to convey and ultimately, what the piece is saying to us.
American Artist Stuart Holland, is the creator of these charcoal drawings and these sparse worlds, with a feeling of surrealism. There is always a person or people present, right in the foreground or way back in the background. The scene is mostly minimalist and the point of focus of the drawing, is not always immediately obvious. Leaving us the viewer, with the task of scanning the scene, to work out what is going on, pushing us to attach some sort of meaning, or story, to each one of the pieces we are presented with. Titles given by the artists, I point this out, because there might be hidden clues in them, that might help with your interpretation.
