Images that through imagination and symbology, tell us more about our interaction with the world around us.
Indonesian Visual Artist Herri Susanto is the talented and inspired artist, behind these photo manipulations.

Telling stories through imagery; a tradition that has been passed down through humans, since we lived in caves. We have always depicted things that are important to us; things that we wanted to explain, or trying to understand about ourselves.  A kind of, single person therapy session.

The understanding and appreciation of each image, is like a locked book that can only be accessed with the right key. The key being a set of life experiences, that really help us delve into it. If you don't have the key you are left to admire the beautiful cover and move on to the next picture, without going any deeper. That is what they might mean by a piece of art speaking to you; the book unlocking, giving you access to that treasure trove of understanding, of insight.

If in the analogy above, the image is the cover of the book, and if we assume that we interpret art using our own set of experiences, then they (experiences) are the key to unlocking the book. That said, because we all have unique combinations of experiences, the cover of the book (the image), will be the same for everyone; the content of the book though, will be different for every person unlocking it. Does it make sense? I hope so...
