Soft Spoken Pencil Portraits

Realistic drawings that have a very soft-spoken feeling about them.
Japanese artist, now living in New York, Kei Meguro 目黒ケイ has fans and clients all over the world.

As I was mentioning above, her work has a real softness of execution. Not shouting each line to try and make its self more impressive; but rather a gentle whisper that carries on the winds and is audible miles away.

Going through the drawings that I had chosen for this post, I was thinking of other things that are going on at the moment. This had two effects: one was that it made me go slower through each image. Second, it allowed my brain to take the time to take-in each image in full.

I went trough them again and my brain started revealing all of these details; something special in each drawing, the hair, the cat, light filtering through fingers, the texture of the textile on the jumper, the subtle changes in skin tone marked by the airbrush-like finish of the light hitting the skin and more.

We all have a 10 or more things going on at the same time, our minds are inundated with a swirl of thoughts that keep spinning around, vying for our attention.

Every now and then, we just have to pull the break for this insanely fast turning merry go round. Step off, recover from the spinning head and have a look around. Take the time to really appreciate some of the things and people that surround us; you will start to see how much you have taken for granted.

Ps. I gave the images some titles.
