Oil Portrait Paintings in Geometry and Flowers

00-Oil-Portrait-Paintings-Lee-Wagstaff
Geometric forms and flowers to create portraits. Paintings - oil and gesso on canvas.

German Artist Lee Wagstaff creates art in a different way from most artists. I usually say to enlarge the images to get a better look but here it's the opposite. The smaller they are, the more of the portrait detail you see.

When you enlarge the image, the subtle strokes of paint that form the features, blend more and more into the background. Giving the finished peace a very different look.

These paintings really are in the details. I love art that hits you with a twist when you least expect it...

  1. they used to do images like this back in the 70's with word processors and typewriters, now they are done on computers! such fun images to look at.

    1. Making them out of oil painting makes it even more impressive. I am not even sure about how you go about creating them, with the precision Wagstaff does.

I am really amazed with the result. A lot of work must go into the preparation of each painting.
Deciding which lines in a repetitive number of shapes to alter ever so slightly, to incorporate part of the feature of the face.

      Amazing pieces.

It's great to hear from you, I hope you have a wonderful Thursday. 🌿️🌺️🌿️
