Stepped Charcoal Portraits

Stepped charcoal drawings, to give an understanding of the process.

This artist goes by the name CharcoalMan. As well as producing YouTube videos of his work, he also shows the initial and intermediate steps to constructing a portrait.

Amongst them there is also a drawing study of boxer Conor McGregor, with a reference photo to set a starting point.

Even though they are not realistic drawings, they carry the same load of clearly expressed emotions. This includes the only animal on the page, the gorilla.

Have a look and enjoy this post.
