Expressive Charcoal Portraits

Charcoal portrait drawings that say a lot without uttering a word. And one Celebrity.

First things first, I want to jump into the aspects I like about the drawings as a whole. A little side note to address the first two drawings that are my favourites. These are the only two portraits on the page that contain a wider picture and context. The others are more enigmatic and open for interpretation.
 
Back to the point I started. Having gone though the images and having given them titles, I noticed how many of the sketches revolved around hair. I know it sounds a bit strange, but for me, this is the thinnest of silk threads that connect them all. Hair, a part of us that can't emote or share in the production of expressions like other facial features. It can, nonetheless, help frame our features and sometimes shield us from exposure.  The style also says something more about us and the image we want to project to the world.
