Enormous and Detailed Drawing

00-Detailed-Drawing-Ikeda-Manabu-www-designstack-co
A very large drawing entitled: "History of Rise and Fall".

Japanese artist Ikeda Manabu spends years creating one of his drawings. He is said to work on one drawing exclusively, at the time.

The dimensions are as follows: 2x2m (6.5×6.5 ft).
It would be impossible to take in all of the exquisite details, so several shots have been created to show just how clear they are when enlarged.

This is one of those pieces of art that really has to be seen in person, to appreciate it in all of its splendour.  This is the next best thing though.

These illustrations take form using: Pen, acrylic ink on paper, mounted on board.

As I understand it, Ikeda doesn't create a sketch before he starts.  Rather, divides the space in sections, to encompass all of the various aspects he is going to be featuring. He says it allows inspiration and creativity to naturally incorporate in real time, as the drawing progresses.
