Animals mixed with surrealism, to give extraordinary results.
Dutch Artist Redmer Hoekstra is an old favourite of ours. He has been featured here on DesignStack, many times before.
His works have become even more surreal and polished through the years. They carry a depth of symbology, some of the very best examples of this style of drawing.
Delightfully strange associations between animals. Usually splitting the relationship between them. They pit one as the master and the other as the dependent or associate.
With the more complex illustrations, it sometimes takes a while longer to figure out what is actually going on. Some times you can identify the protagonists but are no further aware of what is actually happening.
This is when your imagination will aid you figuring it out. Rationalism and reason will not be of much assistance here. Setting them aside, might just help find out what they are trying to see...
