Gorgeous charcoal sketches with a beautifully illustrative style.
American Artist Jie Gaoart drew all of the likenesses on this page.
There are two styles moving concurrently through these drawings: Sketch and realism. Parts are executed with one and parts with the other.
The artist seems to decide which features to display clearly in the foreground and which ones to push a little farther back in the background.
Internal emotions erupt out in expressions. Each one of these pictures has them. Some are more subtle than others, but they are all there.
After I processed the images and wrote the post, I realised I had already featured Gaoart in a previous post. About two or three of the drawings are contained in that one too, but there are some lovely additions to the previous one.
As it's the case for so many artists we feature, it's really difficult to pick favourites. It's not much of a surprise as we chose the artist and the works... And as you can see below, there is so much to love about these charcoal drawings.
All that said, drawing number 5 is my pick. I love the relaxed, contented looks. The subtle smiles etched on their faces. The effortless natural look and feel of the situation. How they seem to meld into that tender embrace... The stark lighting and contrasting shadows give the scene an almost fantasy, ethereal feel. There is so much more I could say about this and all the other drawings... I will stop now and give you a chance to admire them yourself, in the hope you get out of them as much as I have.
Ps. I gave the images some titles.
