Graphite and Pastel Pencil Portrait Drawings

Interesting portraits drawn with graphite and pastel pencils.

A Finnish artist that goes by the name of Lily-in-Snow drew all of the art you see on this page.

These sketches have a wonderful minimalist quality about them.  They also have a subtle glow of colours that highlight the faces of the characters in this post.

The expressions are as subtle as all of the other factors that collect together to form these depiction.  There is so much the people are saying and doing so without speaking a word or moving.  That is what expressions and poses do.  They are non-verbal communication.

The most prevalent colour, as well as the grey from the graphite, is the golden light colour of the pastel pencils.  As well as that, there are other colours like blue and purple.

The first drawing down sets the scene for what awaits us in the rest of the post.  The second one is a smooth, almost an ethereal representation.  She is looking straight at us with a question.  Can you guess what it might be?

The third sketch below showcases quiet contentment.  A tangible, stable and long-lasting feeling...  The eyes closed help this person absorb, enjoy and live in this precious moment.

Drawing number six has a similar feel to the previous one and the stretching lips suggest a blossoming smile at the thought of...

Finally, the last drawing on the page.   I read the image as the woman approaching a room full of light.  A silent moment of joy as the happy realisation dawns on her of what she is about to step into...
