Mythical creatures in fantastic animal pencil drawings.

An American Artist that goes by the name of "Atoms And Dust" drew all of the beings you see on this page.

A lot of imagination has been projected towards these sketches to come up with these lovely and diverse animals.

My favourites are not solely based on the execution and look of the animal, but also on the level of inspired design the creature comes in.

The first drawing down is a perfect example of what I mentioned above. The top part of the body is a tiger. It comes with what looks like a bird of prey's wide wingspan. The bottom portion, which included the tail, manifests itself as the extremities of a dragon. A composite creature that appears as strange as it is beautiful. The different sections are kept in stark contrast and little effort is done to blend them. I mean this as a positive thing, as it reminds me of a Frankenstein's monster kind of experiment. This simple act adds dimension to the creature. Questions like who created it? What were they looking to achieve? Are they going to wield it as a weapon, or use it for defence? These are all questions that are going to help the story-telling, wherein this hybrid is going to be the main star.

The second drawing is at the top of my favourites. I would love to see a wider shot of the beast and what it's shooting that blast of energy towards.

My next pick is the third drawing. There is a lot of detailing on this portrait. There is just one more colour used and for me it is not enough to differentiate the facial features sufficiently. I know I said it is one of my favourites and now it seems as if I am giving it a negative review. In fact, that is the quality I like about it. When I first looked at it, I wasn't sure what I was seeing. Then I gradually recognised the different parts and features. It was at that point that the the portrait came to life. The transformation from abstract image, to dragon face happened in my brain and it was a fascinating metamorphosis.
