A lovely collection of dragons, both eastern and western.
Rebecca Camfield aka chaosia drew all of the creatures you see on this page.
I'll pick up on what I mentioned above. The difference between eastern and western dragons is mainly in the limbs. The first one tends not to have any, whilst the second has four and sports a set of wings that the first selection does not have. (These rules are not as rigid as I have listed above. There are variations.)
The things they have in common are their imposing and majestic size and presence. In the case of Camfield's beings, you can add to that the sophisticated and complex detailing they come with. The tanned paper gives these beings an extra ancient look and feel about them.
I like how well the moon and the sun dragons look face-to-face with each other. A definitive contrast and separated kingdoms of night and day.
Amongst the things I like and have already mentioned about Camfield's work, I have to point out the settings the dragons live in. Most of this artist's drawings come with lovely and distinctive places.
The drawing I like the most is the last one on this page. It's the one of the dragon perched on what looks like a wisteria vine on a green floating island. It's such a beautifully complete picture. I adore the composition, as well as the individual aspects of the image.
Have a look through the drawings below and find your own personal dragon.
