Pencil and fineliner drawings of architecture studies.

British former Architect and fineliner lover goes by the name of Vanishing-arts. This artist created all of the drawings you see on this page.

There are ten drawings in this post. Eight of them are likenesses of real buildings from around the world. Two of them are fantasy ones that come from a TV series called Game of Thrones.

Classic architecture is shown off at its best amongst these beautifully detailed structures. We have collected a palace, cathedrals, a hotel, a culture centre and a tenement building.

Clean, pristine and precise lines give these buildings a perfection the original buildings don't really have. A kind of exact ethereal, out of this world apparition.

I find this style of design easier to read when appreciating details. Every section is so crisp and clean that everything jumps out at you as clearly as it can present itself.

My first choice has to be the Getreide Markt - Vienna, Austria. There is so much to like about this building. Just look at all of the details of the facade as a whole. Then split it up into sections: All of the stonework detail. Then stone and metal detailing of the balconies. Finally, the detailing in the roof with what look like multiplying eyes to take in views from around the city.

My next pick is of the drawing depicting the streets in Paris, France. I love the the look of the distinctive Parisian, French architecture. That is not my dominant reason for picking this drawing. My choice is directed at the mastery of the distinction between foreground and background intensity. When done with software, this is not a difficult distinction to achieve. When it comes to fineliners, though, the application of the ink is a more delicate and impressive achievement.
