Mariia Ovsianikova drew all of the buildings you see on this page. Ovsianikova is a self-taught artist, art historian and PhD student.
As well as outstanding buildings, we take a step back in time in the first picture. The following was taken from the artist's social media page: "Gustave Caillebotte, Paris Street, Rainy Day, 1877. I made a graphic version of this famous painting and I’m so proud of this drawing." This drawing is my favourite of hers and being drawn in a sketchbook, adds even more points for me.
The second one: "Padova, Palazzo della Ragione". For me it stands for the amazing buildings Ovsianikova chooses to represent. These structures have so many details inside and out, that they must be difficult to resist as an artist. I imagine so, because I get real satisfaction in seeing these ornate details as a viewer. Being able to depict them is a fantastic way of holding on to them. Ovsianikova lives in Paris, France and she is surrounded by many of these amazing buildings.
The rest of the buildings have points of interest too. These two drawings definitely set the tone for this post.
