Antonio Misasi is an Italian Freelance Street Photographer that has a passion for black and white photography. The thing that captured our attention is the the number of photographs he takes with older people as his subject matter, as many others don't, Misasi explores other themes but this seems to be the prevalent one. It is nice to see an aspect of Italian culture that brings together older people, sitting around discussing the subject of the day, gossip a little, having a bit of a moan, but mostly enjoy passing the time with their friends. In many cities and countries around the world, the opposite is happening, older people suffering from isolation and loneliness. Every picture encapsulates a lifetime of stories between the protagonists, that are mostly unaware when he takes their picture.

We have posted drawing cut-outs in real life situations before, but this is the first time that we have seen this done with vintage Black and White Photographs. Yorch Miranda cleverly positions them in funny or interesting situations, using them to tell as story for which he gives a title and the image, the rest is for us to imagine.

Commercial & Fine Art Photographer Jamal Alias based in Singapore, takes amazingly serene black and white long exposure photographs. He also takes colour photos but we are going to concentrate on his B&W ones in this post. The misty look water assumes when it is subjected to long exposures photos, gives it a calming dreamlike feeling that helps the viewer sit back and relax, enjoying the photographic scenery.

Beautifully drawn, incredibly detailed and amazingly coloured original drawings by freelance Manga artist Sandra Filipova, aka DarkSena, from the Czech Republic. Filipova has a real passion for drawing, that comes out loud and clear in her work. The colour is applied in a very subtle way on the drawing, not everything is coloured there is a lot of black and grey shading. With a slightly different feel the Black and White drawings are just as beautiful. At the bottom of the post we have included a sheet with colouring in tips by Filipova, press the image to enlarge it so that you can see the text, it will cleare when full size.

Architectural Drawings in Color & Black and White
Beautiful drawings by Artist Teikoku Shounen also known as Imperial Boy. We have concentrated on his architectural art in this post and have tried to keep the images as big as possible, (press the image to enlarge, but not the first one), so that you can see all of the intricate detail he manages to cram into his drawings. There is a selection of colour and back and white drawings both of which look fantastic in their own way. Our suggestion is to enlarge the images to pick up all of the details and the subtle colour use in very dark images whilst using faded colours in the light ones. Enjoy...

Jason M Peterson grew up playing in hardcore punk rock bands, with an in interest in photography and design. When he realised that music was not going to be as big a part of his future as it had been of his past, so he concentrated on the other two. This is a sample of the lovely work that Peterson produces, we mostly picked his architecturally inspired photographs, as these are the ones we love the most.

Minimalist Celebrity Drawings mostly Black and White
Art & Design student Raymond Gunawan from Surabaya, Indonesia has a love for art and drawing as you can see from the drawings below. We he put together an assortment of his work, consisting mostly of celebrity portraits, but also including commissions from the public and assignments from his University course. We have featured this style of drawings before (links at the bottom of the page) and it is very effective, they almost looks like an over exposed Black and White photograph.

We have chosen today, a very unusual medium, Black and White Watercolors by Indonesian Artist Elicia Edijanto. She does a magnificent job of bringing these fascinating minimalist paintings to life. Most of them feature a relationship between one animal and one person. Even though the paintings do not have a lot of detail, they manage to get across the closeness and the tenderness of the encounter.

Swiss Artist Thomas Barbèy creates the most amazing Back and White Surreal Photographs. He has been lover of art since a young age, where he concentrated mostly on design. 20 years ago, he found a new passion in photography and still uses his pre-digital Canon AE1s to take mostly B&W Photographs and some times Sepia ones. He uses the negatives to create something amazing out of the vast library of images taken over 20 years. To see our previous Post about Barbèy click on=> Surreal Photography 2.

Surreal Black and White Drawings with a Message
Ukrainian artist Vitaliy Gonikman spent a long time creating art and trying to find a style and a subject that could use to represent him as an artist. He found surreal art to be the one that most inspired him and that gave him the greatest chance to express his thoughts and feelings through his drawings.

Korean Artist Beomsik Won, creates Photographic Architectural Sculptures. Amongst the many photos on his site, we have chosen a selection of Black and White images to bring to you. The style of composition is not always the same, sometimes he gets different buildings and positions into a bigger structure. Other times he gets one image and copies it like in the Colosseum and Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome, below. A lot of work goes into making sure that these buildings look like they belong together, from lighting, shadows and the impression / illusion of a perfect fit.

Self-taught Graphics Artist Richard Smith, conjures unique images from Black and White photographs, to create photo-montage of Surreal Realities. Smith takes pictures of every day items, things that most of us would overlook in our quest to get from point A to point B, as quickly as possible. You can almost see pieces of him and the world he lives in, because that is where a lot of his inspiration comes from. Any time he goes out, the road or the path he walks through, the railing he passes, the clouds in the sky or the railway tracks, animals he encounters all play a part in his drive to create new worlds, using as inspiration, the details of the one all around him.

We are revisiting Freelance Polish Photographer Dariusz Klimczak's work as he has produced more images. The beauty of surreal imagery is that it says different things to different people. We are going to put the titles the Artist gave them, but try looking at the image first and then compare it with the message from the Artist. Let us know if you would have given any of the images a different title and why, at the bottom, in the comment section. Your imagination is just as good as what you feed it. Hopefully this will fill you for the time being.

Dutch Multi-Disciplinary Artist Levi van Veluw, expresses his art through numerous mediums, including: photography, videography, sculpting, creation of installations and drawings. We are going to showcase the last one in the list and more specifically his charcoal drawings, which at fist, appear minimalist in the amount of the detail they display, even though, the drawing as a whole carries a lot of intensity.

Realistic Black and White Pencil Drawings
Fausto Martin is a Spanish Artist, that has a predilection for graphite and black & white drawings. Unlike color drawings, where you have a palette of different colors to choose from, in B&W drawings you have Black White and then a huge assortment of gradations of Grey. Broadening the variation in shading and the amount of detail applied, will increase the likelihood, that the finished image will look realistic.
