Yes, as you may have guessed by the title, these are not photographs, but very realistic paintings, by talented artist, Doug Bloodworth.  He was heavily influenced by American Western Classics, from a young age, which he is now able to express, together with pop culture, in his realistic paintings.  Throughout his carer, he has worked trough several genres of art, that span form painting caricatures to billboards.  He is now concentrating his art, around this fascinating and realistic art form, mixed with a bit of nostalgia. Time-lapse video of one of his pieces, below.

US Artist Leah Yerpe, brings us, a very different composition style.  The way her models pose, is fluid and without structure or direction by the artist.  This lies in stark contrast with the way she approaches her drawings, which is systematic, precise and structured.  Following, is a partial quote from Yerpe: "The bodies in my work are multiplied in different poses, twisting, floating and falling on a ground purged of contextualizing marks."  Below a time-lapse video that shows how Yerpe approaches her drawings.

Star Wars, Environmentally Friendly Upcycling and Recycling

Gabriel Dishaw, is an Artist that uses his imagination, to focus our attention, on to the amount of items we send to the landfill every year.  It all started when he was at school in 9th grade, during an art class his teacher gave the students, 30 possible options for an art project, Dishaw chose "Junk Art" and he won 1st price, in the 3D category.  As mentioned above he is hoping that his art continues the conversation that more and more people are having around the word, to curb our seemingly insatiable appetite for waste.  Among his themes we have chosen his Star Wars one, for today's post.

The Floating Piers - Walkways on Lake Iseo, Italy

No comments:
00-Christo-and-Jeanne-Claude-The-Floating-Piers-Walkways-on-Lake-Iseo-Italy-www-designstack-co
This is a project by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, we have taken an extract from their site, for the description "For sixteen days – June 18 through July 3, 2016 (weather permitting) – Italy’s Lake Iseo is being reimagined. 100,000 square meters of shimmering yellow fabric, carried by a modular floating dock system of 220,000 high-density polyethylene cubes, undulate with the movement of the waves as The Floating Piers rise just above the surface of the water."  Access is free for anyone to visit and opens at 06 am and closes at 10 pm.  The Walkway is 3Km (1.8 miles) long and 16m (52ft) wide.  At the end of the 16 days the "components will be removed and industrially recycled".  We are hoping that they either decide to keep the structure on a more permanent basis, or that the components are used for other projects and that more energy is not spent in making them into something else.  Even if they re-process them, at least they are not going to go into a landfill.

When his friends bought a doorman’s room and cellar 25m² (269 ft²) next to their workplace, Architect Jérôme Vinçon customised it for them, so that they would get the best and most out of it.  Michel Craca is a head chef and Gaelle Potel is a maitre d’ in the same restaurant.  One of the most important parts of the flat was a fully functional kitchen for a professional chef.  The flat is divided on 4 levels: Toilet Shower / Room - Sitting Room - Kitchen - Bedroom.  There is only one window through which, natural light can come in from.  Splitting the levels, but leaving them open, means that 3 out of the 4 levels gets a certain amount of natural light.  The only one that does not is the bedroom in the lower level.  Have a look at the video and the images below to get a better picture of this custom and highly efficient use of space.

This is the third time, we feature this multi style, talented Artist, Dino Tomic aka (AtomiccircuS).  Throughout the years, he has experimented with different mediums in both, Traditional and Digital Art.  We have links below, for Tomic's previous work here on DesignStack.  Today we are having a look at his salt drawings, some of which are Negative or Inverted Light.  The principle is built on the old negatives, that came out of the analogue photographic camera films, where everything that was light was represented as dark and everything dark was represented as light.  The light and dark, on the original drawings, have to be swapped, in order to look right.  You will be able to see how this works on the first video below and the images below it.

Indian Artist Parth Kothekar, unifies beauty and precision, in his paper cut silhouettes.  As well as that, he puts so much details, that must add a lot of difficulty when drawing and cutting these intricate patterns.  Kothekar started off with graffiti art, when cutting a stencil, he came up with the idea of transitioning to paper cut art.  It was initially a hobby, that has now become for him, a profession.  We have included a bit of a cross section of Kothekar's work below.

I hope it shows what anyone can do, art supplies are not always needed to create something. I also like that fact that no mistake can be made."
