1700, is the century in which the artist that created this art, lived in.
Italian Artist Giovanni Battista Piranesi, lived between 1720 and 1778.  He was famous for his etchings of Rome and of imaginary prison scenes "Le Carceri d'Invenzione".  For a more in-depth description of Piranesi's life, just check out his page on wikipedia (not so much his, but rather one written for him...).  What impressed me, was the diversity of choice in building structures and his detailing, that really brings the scene to life. Architectural drawings that have lost nothing to time, since they were first drawn, centuries ago.
