The black background and the white drawings, really work in unison, to show off these black and white illustrations at their best.
Australian Illustrator Justin Estcourt, has this to say about his work:  "Painting the light in a vast universe."  I really like his work, but specifically the contrast, that the colors of his chosen medium gives to the finish piece.  Only the 13th drawing of this post, stands separate from the rest, showing off a more traditional white background with a black drawing.  Mostly space themed, these drawings have had a very mellowing effect on me.  A real relaxed feeling enveloped me, by the time I got to the last one on the page.  Hopefully it will have a similarly soothing effect on you too.
