French Aquarellist Thierry Duval, makes his third appearance here on DesignStack.
His attention to detail is outstanding and so is his choice of buildings. I don't want to take away anything from Duval's pick of architecture, but in Paris, you are really spoilt for choice; if you are looking for wonderfully detailed building, there is a lot to choose from. They are found, not only on the tourist trails, but also on side streets and buildings away from the centre; they hold just as much interest, but in different ways.
It might seem an odd choice of partners: nighttime views and shops. Both hold a charm that is not immediately seen by most; something that requires a moment free of distractions. It's when you go from looking to seeing, that these qualities really emerge. I would explain the difference between the two words with this example: You look at the forest and you see the tree.
We do a lot of looking throughout the day, but not a lot of seeing. In our defence, we are bombarded with so many visual stimuli throughout our waking moments. Our brain disregards most of the visual information, in order to prevent overload. It takes conscious effort to stop and really focus our attention on something. It's worth the work when it allows the beauty of what is in front of you, to reveal its self.
