A distinctive way of creating portraits and art in general.
Artist Lui Ferreyra has a very interesting approach to portraiture.
In his color pencil drawings, his lines are contained in different shapes. These not only form part of the features, like the eyebrows, they also the act as levels and contours of the face. When looked at a distance they meld into each other, to form a multicoloured shading pattern across the drawing.
In the oil paintings on canvas, a comparable effect occurs but not through lines rather, similar hues of the same color. Again if panned out, these subtle changes in hues, give the face that 3D effect only detailed art, is able to achieve.
Subtle expressions and poses add the finishing touched to the composition. They are worth spending time on. Taking in the details and then, the piece as a whole.
