Softly Drawn Portrait Drawings

Pencil drawings which take on an ethereal aspect.

Lithuanian Artist Evgeni Koroliov has a soft touch, when it comes to creating portraits.

I see her work as divided in two parts:The first, with a more realistic aspect. The finish throughout is to a very high standard, with every aspect shown and meticulously detailed. The other has many points in common with minimalist drawings. Not everything is defined and some of the parts look unfinished or affected by a sparse concentration of graphite.

The second, are the ones I prefer. This is not to say I don't like the others, but the second group comes just ahead.

I also like the contrast between the looks of the models. Some are perfectly styled. Everything is in its given place and nothing is where it shouldn't be. By contrast, there are some which look less curated. It gives the idea of a spontaneous desire to create a portrait when the instant is captured as it is, in the perfection which is that moment.

Enjoy Koroliov's work and the beginning of your weekend.

Ps. I gave the images some titles.
