A collection of architectural drawings and one of an American businessman, author, mathematician and astronomer.
Polish Artist that goes by the name of Conniver drew all of the images you see below.
A lovely compilation of urban sights. A couple of them are repeated to show the same building, but from a different point of view.
There are castles, streets, abandoned ruins, imposing perspectives and much more waiting for you.
I like the fact that many of the drawings are executed with strong shadows and are set in the early evening/night. It gives the place a marked presence and a stronger, starker view.
When it comes to favourites, the following are some of them:
The first drawing down. What looks like a large, open pedestrianised street invites people in to explore the city centre. You can focus entirely on what grabs your attention, without having to worry about motorised vehicles. The street lamps are on, but the town does not look too dark. People are probably returning home after a day at work, whilst others are deciding where to eat out. You can just about see a person sitting on one of the benches. the person is taking in the wonderful place and the movement/lives of the people walking though. There is so much more going on with this drawing...
I will now mention two more drawings: The first is the fourth drawing down. The high building with those massive windows. Apart from that, the thing that really impresses me is the perspective of the sketch. If you look at the three human silhouettes, we the viewers would be lying on our stomachs looking up... A fantastic way of making the building look even more majestic.
my last comment is of drawing number five and the image of astronomer Percival Lowell. He is looking through a telescope inside an observatory. The place and the technology, definitely have a distinctive vintage 19th century feel about them. A beautiful, detailed illustration that depicts and records of a moment in time.
I will leave you to have a more in-depth look at the images I mentioned and discover the rest.
