Pencil drawings of people drawing in art class and more. It will make sense in a bit.
Li Cheng drew all of the likenesses you see on this page.
This is such a cool approach to portrait drawing. It's the first time I've come across it. It looks like Cheng sits in an art class and draws other people drawing. In one of the cases, he even draws the image in the tablet the person is using as a reference.
As well as these drawings, there are progression ones. In these, the artist takes pictures of the successive stages of completion of the portrait to go from rough sketch to finished piece.
Finally, three is an example of a straightforward portrait, with the subject in front. That way we can see how alike they look.
As much as I like all the drawings here, my absolute favourites here are the three drawings of people drawing portraits. As I have said, it's the first time I have seen this happen.
Interesting and cool aspects of portraiture are studied and explored here. Have a look and see what inspires you. (Even if you are not an artist.)
