A wonderful selection of ink Bic ballpoint pen portrait drawings.
Daniel Ben drew all of the portraits you see on this page.
First of all, let's address the beauty of the drawings in conjunction with how difficult it is to draw with ink. If you make any kind of mistake, it's there for everyone to see. It takes time to learn how to shade and learn to vary the intensity of the strokes.
In this post there are variations in the style in the sketches. The one that fascinates me is the one that sees the image constructed by rows of little vertical lines stacked horizontally. The darker areas are characterised by a larger concentration. It's not the same, but not too dissimilar from the stippling style principle.
For me, the drawing that embodies perfectly this style of drawing is image number eight.
As a whole, the other drawings that make a real impression on me are: Drawing number 1. That peaceful, relaxed but focused face. Drawing number 3 with the stern and menacing look. Finally, drawing number 10 and that stylish look and detailing in the hair.
What do you think of these and the rest?
Ps. I gave the images some titles.
