Lovely tiny and whimsical buildings in architectural ink drawings.
Steph Penk drew all of the cute little buildings you see on this page.
There is a lot of detailing going on in such small sketches. The pens act as a scale revealer and you can see the artist's hard work going into thinking and designing these pleasant shapes and designs.
In this post you will find more curved and, by contrast, more pointy buildings. Structures with more or with less detailing. Even the ones with less still have so much going on in them.
The burning questions I have are what kind of person/creature/being lives in them? What does their wider town look like and what kind of activities go on there?
I have a real predilection for the rounded shapes, with the first four drawings being my favourites. Among them, number 2 is the one I like the most. It's a lovely design that doesn't chase symmetry as a main objective, but it still finds balance in the structure and the detailing. Climbing plants and all of those different sized/shaped windows help give the place a very cute and distinctive look.
A wonderful fantasy departure from the more real life kind of architecture we have on a Monday. A nice change I am really enjoying thanks to Penk's work. I hope you do too.
