Natalie Shau is mixed media artist and photographer based in Lithuania.  Her work spans from portrait photography, to creating artwork for theatres, fashion magazines, writers and advertisers.  We have picked a few, from her numerous photographs and illustrations, to show to you today. Hand Drawn Zentangle, Doodles, Illustrations and Drawings

French Artist Celiline describes herself as a non professional Artist, that said she would love to make this love of hers into a full time job.  She uses her Moleskine book to produce Illustrations, Doodles, Drawings and Zentangles.  Zentangles are attained by repeating patterns to create an overall design.  These drawings are becoming very popular, not only their production, but also the colouring-in, that is seen as relaxing and distressing, sometimes used as a therapeutic tool.

Beautiful Illustrations by British Illustrator and Sculptor Adam Oehlers.  The Lovely proportions of his subjects and the character they exude, with incredible expressions, is what sets them aside from most, they are not always happy and joyful, just like life itself.  Oehlers says that "I like to think that all of my images and sculptures belong to the same little universe. Guy Billout is a French artist and illustrator that lives and works the United States.  His illustration are a comment on every day life as it is, the bad and the good.   Billout's art, that is normally quite minimalist, carries hidden meanings, sometimes clearer than others, where Reality Irony, Anxieties and Humour act as a mirror to our lives and our habits. Photographer and Visual Artist Ben Thomas, brings us something different, last week we had a look at Photographs that look like Oil Paintings "Photographs in the Rain that look like Oil Paintings", today we are going to have a look at photographs that look like Illustrations.  One of Thomas' latest projects, Chroma, focuses on cities and urban areas, with mostly pastel colours, that give the impression of a flat stylised view like the ones Illustrations portray.  Wonderful out of the box thinking when it comes to taking photographs.

Animal Illustrations Play on Words

Illustrations with Scratchboard Drawings

French Canadian Illustrator Nico Delort draws these magnificent illustrations using inks or the scratchboard. (this is how wikipedia describes it: Scraperboard or scratchboard refers to both a medium, and an illustrative technique using sharp knives and tools for etching into a thin layer of white China clay that is coated with black India ink.)  Given the quality of his work it is not surprising he has clients like, Blizzard Ent. - Games Workshop/The Black Library - Quirk Books - Tor.com - Solaris Books - Lucasfilm - Penguin Books - Mondo.

Rainbow Portraits Drawings and Illustrations

Californian Artist Joshua Roman, is renown for his colourful rainbow Portraits Drawings and Illustrations.  The characters he draws, span the decades, like for example, a scene from the original black and white "The Twilight Zone" to more modern characters like Robert Downey Jr in Ironman.  A few treats from the eighties, for the ones out there old enough to remember them, from the first time around.  We just had to add Roman's Daft Punk, even if thy don't fit with the theme.

Alejandro Burdisio is a talented Argentinian artist that describes himself as a Cartoonist and an Illustrator.  One of his universes, the one we are going to have a look in this post, is the Scrap Metal one.  It is quite a fascinating one, as it has elements of the past, in the use of old machines and new ones in the fact that they are flying cars, vans and motorcycles.  Enlarge the images so that you can pick up all of the details.

Travis Louie has created his own fantastical world, inspired by the Victorian and Edwardian era.  His paintings all start with sketches and notes that he makes in his journal, finally brought to life with acrylic washes.  This world is populated by unconventional humans, mythical and surreal creatures.  They are brought together and interact in a world reminiscent of our past, with references to the poses, style of photography and clothing that some of the characters embody.  Enjoy you tour around this world of uncommon beings.

Scottish Artist Jamie Cameron has been working in the field of Architecture for a few years and has a passion for drawing and a rich imagination to match it.  We could divide the work he does as based on real buildings and the fantastic ones, that populate his thoughts.   In the "real life buildings" as he calls them, Cameron illustrates buildings from Scotland, England and New York City, whilst in the fantasy ones, he draws inspiration from our world, both in the East and in the West.
