German Photographer Heinz Maier creates these lovely shapes with water. Amazing how you can get so many different patterns by dropping items or water in water. Although a new comer to the profession, 2010, Maier now specialises in macro photography, (photographing really small things). He uses different coloured water and lighting to great effect.

All the best artist start with a simpler medium and then with experience and time, progress to more difficult and complex ones. Karen Eland is a bit different in her choices, as she started with coffee and then moved on to painting with beer. We have included below a video where Eland tells us a bit more about her history and her technique. The paintings are painted only using water and beer, at various states of dehydration, the less water content, the thicker and darker it becomes. Using water to dilute it, she can get many different shades of brown giving her paintings depth and that beautiful old / vintage sepia look.

Incredibly giving Artist Paul Shanghai from China, as well as sharing his work with his viewers, he gives short tutorials to explain how he achieves these Hyper-Realistic drawings, inspired by water. He says that he has come back to drawing after an absence of 20 years, and we are glad for it. Shanghai approaches each drawing as if it was a challenge to master different techniques that will allow him to attempt more and more difficult projects.

American Photographer Jenna Martin started on a very different path in life, after having completed a Masters in Psychiatric Rehabilitation, she decided to dedicate her talent and passion to her love for photography. It isn't just about the quality of the pictures she takes, but the subject matter, this choice is what puts good photographers head and shoulders above the rest. Amongst her surreal work we have included some of her under water photographs as well. Enjoy...

Navid Baraty is a Photographer with a background in Engineering, working out of Washington state in the USA. In today's post we are focusing on his Food Art, where Baraty, scans different foods, without the scanner lid, to create these serene space like images. Planets and moons are achieved by scanning the bottom of containers full of liquid, whereas nebulas are achieved using trays full of different liquids and stars using different salts and spices. A lot of preparation, plus trial and error has gone into getting to these images. The ingredients for each images are listed below each picture.

Mr Jack Ng from Sky Greens based in Singapore, has built the first low carbon hydraulic driven vertical farm, to grow sustainable and cheap vegetables for the island nation's use. Because the the arable land is so scarce in Singapore, radical rethinking has had to take place. It is estimated that Singaporeans only grow 7% of their vegetables, the rest is imported from all around the world. Because of its position in-respect of the equator. the nation has a stable warm and sunny climate all year around and during monsoon season the climate control enclosed structure, protects from the force and quantity of rain that comes down during that period. These are the promises this type of farming makes: High yield, quality, flexibility, low energy and water use and little maintenance. We will go into more detail below with the video and more information.

Harvard University constructed these flowers made of crystals using chemical reactions. This isn't the amazing thing, You need an electron microscope to view these flowers as they are measured in microns (1 millimetre = 1000 microns). The flowers were coloured in but the construction is absolutely real.
