3D representations of items we discard every day.
Artist Tom Pfannerstill collects and then replicates these discarded shells, that play such a vital role in our lives. These likenesses are achieved with the use of acrylic and/or enamel paint on carved basswood. Packaging has a dual aspect, it's fantastic at getting a product to the consumer but, it also creates a lot of damage to the environment, once it is disposed of in nature. More a and more countries are taking responsibility of this fact, to varying degrees, recycling the parts instead of adding to the overflowing landfills. Packaging is a colossus that has to be tamed and work for us and the environment, which are one and the same thing.
