There are two sets of fantasy animals: the ones that look like real ones with different color hair and the ones we have never seen on Animal Planet or any other documentary.
Finnish Artist Satu Manninen uses imagination to draw animals in a different way. Borrowing concepts from our rich lore of creatures, and making up her own species.
These drawings were achieved using pastel pencils. It's not just about the detailing and realism, but also the amazing coloring. Enlarge the images and have a look how variations of similar tones are used to accentuate the details, light and dark. They give the images that realistic look we seem to take for granted in real objects and beings.
Lovely and radiant animals, that will hopefully smoothen those sharp edges of having to go to work on a Monday morning.
Ps. I gave the images some titles.
