No Pencil or Ink Banana Drawings

Food art drawings which do not utilise ink or graphite.

Anna Chojnicka has found an innovative way of creating art on bananas. Firstly... All the fruit used is consumed. None of it goes to waste.

Now to the technique: Chojnicka uses an object with a blunt point to press on the banana. This bruises the skin and makes it darken. The longer you leave it, the darker it gets.

If you time your drawing right, starting with the darker parts first, you can create different gradients of shading and play with the contrast.

In the images below, examples of very dark and very light illustrations can be seen. Some of these color variations within the same piece.

Since March 2020, Chojnicka has posted a new illustration every day.

This artist has inspired people all around the world to try it out. She receives pictures of their efforts with a gratitude in the forged connection through art.
