A mixed-media page with paintings and drawings (graphite chalk and charcoal).
Artist and Teacher Sarah Margaret Gibson created all of the art on this page.
So many beautiful likenesses. They come in different states of completion. Some of them are minimalist pieces; therefore finished as they are displayed.
Mostly depictions of people, there is one of a bird of prey. The artist refers to it as an underpainting "In art, an underpainting is an initial layer of paint applied to a ground, which serves as a base for subsequent layers of paint. Underpaintings are often monochromatic and help to define color values for later painting. Underpainting gets its name because it is painting that is intended to be painted over (see overpainting) in a system of working in layers." Description from Wikipedia.
Now it's time to look at Gibson's work.
