A wonderful collection of ink animal drawing study sketches.
Joe Weatherly drew all of the animal forms you see below.
This is such an interesting post. In the majority of the images below, you have one animal in different poses. As the title suggests, this is a study of their forms. Each one is roughly sketched out, yet they retain the right forms and proportions of the critters they depict.
It's a fascinating thing to see how their forms and lines change as they assume different perspectives and poses.
On to my favourites now.
The puma is the first drawing down and my first pick. I love their stealthy approaches. The agility and the flexibility with which they move. Second is the donkey. They are cute, sweet and peaceful animals. Their lovely, big, kind eyes tell you all you need to know about this sweet creature. The last group I am going to mention are the bears. Their first group. Drawing number four down below. I love the disconnect between the way they look and the fierce aspect they can embody. I am not sure if it's bear toys received as a child. They are something comforting to keep close that is at odds with their power and sometimes ferocious nature they possess... That duality and their look are the reasons I picked them.
Others deserve to be spoken about in more depth. I am entrusting that to you. Simply continue as you make your way down the page. Pay special attention to the amazing aspects that will see you gravitate towards them.
Have a lovely start to the weekend and join us tomorrow for another new post.
Ps. I gave the images some titles.
