The animal kingdom is what brings all of the art together. That said, there are other aspects that separate them. In this first part of the post, we are going to go through a few of them.

Some of the depictions are what you might call normal. Sights you may have seen or are likely to see. Then there are fantasy and surreal ones that would require more looking to find such an occurrence. I am referring to two sketches in particular: The first one is of the person walking on the beach with hammerhead sharks swimming above. The second one is of the two sea turtles casually swimming above the dirt path. They are both fascinating in their weirdness and something I would love to experience in person.

A quick mention of fun. The drawing of the child singing with the camel, definitely takes first place here. You can see just how much the kid is enjoying it... There are more examples of this feeling, even if in a more subtle way. An example of this are the sweet, curious ostriches and mother duck with her ducklings.

The last one I will mention is the little bear cub turning around to follow the flight of the butterfly. Still with its paws on the tree scratching the trunk, it pauses that exercise to admire the flying insect.

So much to like about Rustamov's work and the beautifully expressive execution of the art. I will leave you to it and your Sunday. I hope you get enjoyment out of both in equal measure.
