Realistic pencil drawings of architecture and celebrities.
Polish Artist Anna Katarzyna Stankiewicz aka Artredray drew all of the images on this page.
It's a bit unusual for us to add portraits to an architectural post. In this case, though, behind them stand buildings. A two for one, if you will.
Let's deal with the celebrities first: Tsarina Catherine (based on the TV series Ekaterina.) The second one is Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It starred Harrison Ford and Sean Connery.
Following these, we have the pure architectural ones. The first is a group of three, even called a triptych. These three drawings show the detailing of the Peterhof Palace. Even a casual look at these images gives away the fantastic opulence of the place and the staggering amount of money it must have cost. The drawing captures precisely and beautifully the various aspects included in this enormous structure.
I really like the rest of the drawings too. You find the same accuracy and precision in them, but... The subjects themselves, for me, are surpassed by miles by the first three drawings. The combination of the subject and the artist's skills come together to showcase the sublime nature of realistic art.
What do you think of these and the other drawings? Which one is your favourite? Have you visited any of these places?
Have a great start to your brand new week. Did you notice? It still has that new car scent. Let's see how long it lasts... : )
