Nigh time scenes are not that common when it comes to paintings and that is why we have decided to concentrate on Evgeny Lushpin's dusk artwork. What makes these paintings special is the concept, the choice of light and the realistic look Lushpin is capable of infusing into them. Most of his work is based on scenes of the major cities around the world, if you have been there, it will remind you of them, if you haven't, it sparks the flame in your mind to imagine its urban surrounding.

American Artist Douglas Smith studied Sculpture, Painting and Printmaking, but his main love was for Illustrations and telling a story. Below and above are examples of his Drawings, Illustrations made with the use of the Scratchboard medium. Scratchboard is defined by Wikipedia as "Sharp knives and tools that are used for etching into a thin layer of white China clay that is coated with black India ink". For the coloured ones, more layers of clay in different colours are laid, so that the deeper the incision the more colours are available to the artist.

The photos seem to be very serene with no menacing protagonist looking back at you. Beautiful scenes that make us appreciate the tranquil feeling you can just get during night time.

We have included a video of one of his sculptures in which, you can see the optical illusion of the face tricking your mind, as the camera pans around it, have a look... We thought that this post was too good to give up, so if we find more information in the future we will add it to the post. You will need to give the Animations, a bit of time to start. You can enlarge the image by pressing it, (not the first one).

The Passage of Time Recorded in Pencil Drawing Portraits
In an age when we are told that beauty can only be captured in a youthful looking person, Italian Artist Antonio Finelli stands in stark contrast. He loves the ageing skin and the way it affects all of us, as time passes. He sees our skin a recording device of the passage of time, that filters all of the experiences we go through. His fascination focuses on the transformation we go through, symbolised, in his latest drawings by the incomplete portions in his portraits.

Spanish Artist Fidel Molina, is the son of a painter and grew up, around paint brushes and oil paints. After having completed a degree in Fine Arts, he worked in Graphic Design. His paintings are a snapshot of life in the city, where people busily go about their business, in a rush to get to... If only we could pause our life, from time to time, to see where we are and where we are trying to get to, maybe we would make different decisions.

Photographer and Stylist Christine McConnell, creates photographs of herself next to her ancestors, going back almost 200 years. It apparently all started with a dress, her mother gave her early last year that she wore in a painting, that was hanging up in their home for the last 25 years. At the time her mother was 32 which is also Christine's age now. She decided to recreate that photograph of her mother's and got the idea to go back in time to recreate her earlier ancestors as well.

Norwegian Artist Christopher Conte, now living in New York, creates these fantastic biomechanical sculptures which, combine his love for anatomy and robotics. After finishing his Fine Arts degree, he started working in he world of prosthetics, (artificial limbs for amputees). He spent 16 years doing this job whilst creating biomechanical sculptures in his spare time, which then became his new full time job. He creates his own pieces as well as using recycled parts, like the Singer Creature at the end of the post. Amazing lines and the precision in his sculptures, make them an absolute pleasure to look at.
