Surreal Salvador Dali Wood Furnishings

Alan Gwizdowski defines himself as Photographer and Director of Photography, but today we are going to see some of his woodworking projects.  We have no idea if his work was inspired by the famous surrealist artist Salvador Dali, but they are very reminiscent of some of his work.  Lovely sculptures that have very functional applications.

Painting on Recycled and Obsolete Technological Materials

London based Artist Nick Gentry, constructs his canvas using: 35mm film negatives, VHS cassettes, X-ray prints, and floppy discs.  The assembly is not a random one, he has an idea of the image he is going to paint and he carefully positions his materials to create, contours, shades of light and dark, that are going to form part, of his painted piece.  He receives his materials from the public, who send him the items listed above, with a small description of what they contain.  The video below goes into more detail regarding his technique.

Hyper-Realistic drawings on Boards

Singaporean Artist Ivan Hoo, works for a children's art class company, as his day work and creates great art in his time off.  He is self taught and experiments with different mediums, the one we have chosen to display in this article are the hyper-Realistic ones he creates on wooden boards.  What complicates these drawings is that the board its self is not perfectly flat as you have the undulations of the wood-grain.  On the other hand the wood grain gives fantastic background texture to the transparent components, like the eggs.  Some of them are not finished and still look amazing.
